PLANNING

Be sure to check the Yosemite website for latest information, events and updates.  During peak seasons, Yosemite will often make reservations a requirement to visit.  Also, if you are planning to visit Yosemite during the winter, be sure to bring chains for your car.  It is a federal law that you have to have chains in your car when snow is present.  If at all possible, avoid weekends and visit during the weekdays to avoid crowds.  CLICK HERE to visit the Yosemite website.

HIKING

Yosemite National Park has more than 800 miles of outstanding hiking trails with unsurpassed views of mountain peaks and dramatic waterfalls. We offer guided day hikes ranging in length from just a few hours to full-day trips (for the most fit and experienced hikers) to the top of Half Dome. Additionally, we offer custom hiking trips for groups of all sizes. For extended backpacking trips, the High Sierra Camps provide tent cabins and food—letting you carry a significantly lighter backpack on your journey.

BIKING

Biking is one of the easiest, most fun ways to ensure you see all the highlights at Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Valley is flat, which makes for easy riding along our 12 miles of designated paths. All rental bikes are available first-come, first-served – reservations are only available for ADA bicycles (hand-crank bicycles, and tandem bicycles for visually impaired guests). Before you begin your biking trip, be sure to review the trail map and familiarize yourself with our biking rules.

RAFTING

Spend the afternoon rafting in Yosemite—you’ll have tons of fun while cooling off and taking in some amazing views. Your trip will include a 3-mile float down the Merced River in a raft that holds 2-4 people.

The Yosemite rafting season varies from year to year and depends on factors such as the depth of the rivers, the temperature of the water and the seasonal snowmelt. With a good snowpack year, the season can last anywhere from the middle of July to the end of August.

GIANT SEQUOIAS

Yosemite National Park is home to three groves of impressive ancient giant sequoias. Giant sequoias are an iconic species, being among the rarest, oldest and largest living organisms in the world.
